That'll be the day
Today we stopped in Clearlake, at the surf ballroom. The last place where Buddy Holly played a show before his plane crashed, killing him, The Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens.
Don Mclean wrote the song American Pie about Buddy Holly's death ... the day music died .

pebble from Kevin Costners shoe !!! Our guide Wayne, who pretty much spent his whole life in the ballroom, was very proud of this. He got his car vacuumed because he knew he was gonna be driving Kevin Costner around .. after he left kev .. he found this pebble in his car . .. he has now framed it! freak.

Drenched in history! I love graffiti from years ago at venues. When Hang the Bastard played the Nags Head in High Wycombe there was a girl who worked there who showed me all this graffiti from the Sex Pistols in a little room backstage upstairs.
Speaking of Don McLean there's a guy I'm related to that used to Roadie for him. He even has a son called 'Don' named after him. The ironic thing is I knew this Don kid for years as he and his brothers were nightmare townie chavs, we'd have to tangle with them out skating at night, a couple of them grew up to be real cunts and are in prison now. I only just found out 2 weeks ago I am related to them. Weird!
First time reader of your Blog Miss Matsuura, and what a delightful peek into your hectic little life.
Enjoyed your inclusion of the dead carcass of Buddy Holly. What do they say...? You can never see to many plane crash victims? Probably not.
Informative as well, with your Don Mclean fact. There was me thinking he just had a bit of a thing for pastry based deserts. The lyrics make considerably more sense as well.
Pleased to hear that your guide vacuumed his car for entertainment royalty in Kevin Costner, why was he there, was Whitney playing?
Well thanks for entertaining me with your pics and incredibly personal info. Keep up the outstanding work with your bands i am a big fan of them espeically Comanechi.
Peace and Love
I don't think I could be anymore jealous!
Glad you're having fun bebe,

oh, how interesting. If I'm ever in the area I'll be sure to stop by that place.
That's Richie Valens' body shown in the photo. Buddy was wearing a light tan coat with a heavy fur collar.
Yes,that is Ritchie's body in the picture with the black coat one.Buddy was wearing a yellow leather like coat and if you read the death certificate your see that there were two suitcases lying by Buddy's body.People need to get the story right
I am sooooo glad that the timeless music of Holly, Valens and Richardson are prestinely preserved on CD and mp3... I smile and feel good whenever I listen to their many songs. God rest their souls. +--
I would have loved living in the 1950's... what a grand time, that would have been!
Hi,
This is not the body of Buddy Holly ... It's the body of Richie Vallens.
Buddy's body lay to the left of this.. and the Big Bopper's was ahead in the next field.
